• Save changes and test your internet connection.

What steps should I follow to secure my MikroTik router from unauthorized access?

To secure your MikroTik router:
• Change the default username and set a strong password.
• Disable any unused services (e.g., Telnet, FTP) to minimize security risks.
• Enable a firewall and set up rules to restrict unauthorized traffic.
• Regularly update the router’s firmware to the latest version for security patches.

How can I configure VLANs on a MikroTik switch for network segmentation?

To configure VLANs on a MikroTik switch:
• Log in to your router and go to the Switch menu.
• Under VLANs, create new VLAN IDs for each segment you wish to create.
• Assign VLANs to ports based on your network design (e.g., separate departments).
• Use Bridge VLAN Filtering for layer 2 isolation if necessary.
• Apply changes and test connections for each VLAN to ensure proper segmentation.

Why is my MikroTik router or switch not connecting to the internet, and how can I troubleshoot it?

If your MikroTik device isn’t connecting to the internet:
• Check that your ISP settings (e.g., PPPoE or DHCP) are correctly configured.
• Ensure your WAN and LAN interfaces are set up properly.
• Verify firewall settings and NAT configurations to allow outbound traffic.
• Restart the router or switch and check physical connections.
• If issues persist, review logs in the MikroTik interface for error messages.

What is provisioning and how do I provision my Grandstream device?

Grandstream SIP Devices can be configured via Web Interface as well as via Configuration File through TFTP or HTTP/HTTPS download. All Grandstream SIP devices support a proprietary binary format configuration file. New product families such as GXP21xx/14xx/11xx, GXV31xx, HT50x and GXW40xx accept configuration files in XML format in addition to the legacy proprietary binary format.

Why am I unable to pertorm a Factory Reset?

There are 3 reasons why you might be unable to perform a Factory Reset:
  1. You might be entering an incorrect MAC address. Remember for HT products, you have to enter the MAC with the correct encoding in numbers, and for BT or GXP Phones you simply need to enter the exact MAC address in alphabets and numbers.
  2. If your Internet Service Provider has given you the device along with the service, they probably have it locked with their settings and that's why you cannot perform the Factory Reset. Generally in this case, the voice prompt will give you Invalid Entry response.
  3. Lastly, you might have set Lock Keypad Update to Yes on the Web Configuration, in that case Factory Reset will not get initiated.

Why can't l get an IP Address on my Grandstream device?

Check the connection speed (10Mpbs or 100Mbps) with the Internet source (router, modem, etc). Most of the Handytone Series products and the BudgeTone 101 and 102 support only 10Mbps Ethernet connections.

GXP2000, GXV3000, BT200 and BT500 (coming soon) support both 10/100 Mbps connections.

Just like a standard 10/100M SOHO router, each Ethernet port of our GXP2000, GXP2020, GXV3000, and BT200 phones is fully independent in terms of speed and duplex. The negotiation result is up to the other end network device's capability. If you directly connect BT200 phone to a BT100 phone, it sets to 10M and Half-duplex because of the limitation of BT-100. All our 10/100M Ethernet ports have MDIX, an auto-crossover feature. Then, you no longer need to care if the Ethernet cable is a crossover cable or a straight one.

How can I improve audio quality and signal strength on my Motorola DMR/TETRA radio?

For improved audio and signal strength:
• Ensure the antenna is properly installed and that the radio is fully charged.
• Adjust audio settings in the programming software to enhance clarity, such as enabling noise suppression.
• Avoid obstructions (e.g., buildings or metal barriers) and test alternative channels if interference is an issue.
• For extended coverage, consider adding repeaters to your network to boost signal reach.

Why is my Motorola TETRA/DMR radio not connecting to the network, and how can I troubleshoot it?

If your radio isn’t connecting:
• Verify that the network ID and channel information in the radio match your network settings.
• Check that the radio is within coverage range and that no network outages are present.
• Inspect the radio’s SIM card (if applicable for TETRA) and ensure it’s correctly seated and activated.
• Restart the radio, check for firmware updates, and re-sync with the network if necessary.
